Busch Gardens is a 383-acre theme park located just a few miles from the Law School. The park has a European theme and different sections of the park are based on different “villages” in England, Scotland, Ireland, Italy, Germany and France. The park’s rides and roller coasters as well as their shopping and dining options are in keeping with these themes based on where they are located in the park. There are 6 roller coasters, 4 water rides and 53 total rides in the park. Busch Gardens also features several animal exhibits including Eagle Ridge, Highland Stables, Jack Hanna’s Wild Reserve, Lorikeet Glen, Wolf Haven, and Wolf Valley. The park is open March-December.
Busch Gardens features several special events throughout the year one of which is Howl-O-Scream. It took place from September 13-October 27. This year’s Howl-O-Scream had four “terror-tories” which transformed England, France, Germany and Italy into Halloween-themed sections based on Jack the Ripper, vampires, pirates and demons. There were also six haunted houses and various food and drink specials. William & Mary students, including law students, received a special, discounted rate for one day at Howl-O-Scream, and the university provided transportation to and from the park.
